Welcome To My Home Page
My name is
Doug Smith and I am located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Besides having more mundane collections such as books, comic books
and movies I also collect old vacuum cleaners. As I havn't found any
collections that are quite as extensive as mine on the web (although
I'm certainly no expert) I decided to dedicate my first attempt at a
web page to my collection.
I have been collecting vacuums since my grandmother gave me her
old Goblin when I was 5. (I am now 40) I took it apart and, much to
my fathers surprise, fixed it. I've been doing it every
since.

Display
If anyone is
passing through Moose Jaw and is interested in seeing part of my
collection it is on display at the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village
Museum south of the city. The display changed somewhat in 2004 when I completed the construction of an Appliance Shop at the museum which not only incorporates some of my vacuums but a good number of other small appliances as well |

Have You Anything You Could
Add?
If you can
add any information (eg:dates, what accessories came with a
particular model etc), have any comments, or have any items that you
would like to donate to the display (eg. instruction manuals) please contact me at MJDKAS@hotmail.com or leave a
message in the guest book. Please DO NOT ask "what is my machine worth" This question drives most collectors up the wall. The only answer I can give is: I have been collecting for over 30 years and have yet to pay more than $20.00 for a machine. To most people an old vacuum is just that, an old vacuum. Demand is not high for them so the market value is low.

Well, this update has been a long time in the making, but its finally finished.
You will notice a number of major changes (as well as some minor ones) this time.
These changes include:
1). Separate pages for each brand of vacuum.
2). A "click on to enlarge" feature on most pictures.
3). "Other brands also made by"
on some pages (please note these pictures do not enlarge. You must go to their own pages
for enlargements)
4). A change in programming format which, I hope, will allow the
pictures to be viewed more easily by some computers.
5). Blank frames on the Lewyt
and Electrolux pages which indicate machines I am still looking for
I hope these
modifications make the pages more useful. I am not very great with a computer and it has
been a struggle to figure out how to do these things but I am learning.

Added another 20 machines,
enlarged the pictures on each page and removed the enlargement feature to conserve
